White blood cells are immune system cells that circulate in the bloodstream, helping your dog’s immune system fight off infections and other problems. There are five main types of white blood cells, all of which do different jobs for the immune system. Your veterinarian will keep a watchful eye on your dog’s white blood cell count over the course of treatment, because it reflects how well her immune function is working.
