Local Invasion

Local invasion is when cancer tumors reach out and latch onto (invade) healthy tissues immediately surrounding them. As they take over the healthy tissue, the tumor grows and takes up more space in the area. Local invasion is, therefore, different from metastasis. Some tumors are more likely to be locally invasive than others.
