Maxillectomy

A maxillectomy is a surgery performed to remove the upper jaw and palate (the roof of the mouth). This sounds extreme, but your vet would not recommend it unless they thought it was possible for your dog’s specific case to live a good quality life after this surgery. As with other amputations, they can go on to live a full life, quite unconcerned with their missing body part.
