Quality of Life
Quality of life is a measurement of how enjoyable life is for your dog. All of us want our dogs to live a long time, but high quality of life is important for most of us, as well. Cancer takes its toll on the body, and over time life quality may go down as basic life functions like relieving oneself comfortably, eating, drinking, walking, and playing are impacted. Pain, especially chronic pain, also lowers life quality. Side effects from cancer, but also treatments, can lower life quality. However, life quality can go up when you address those side effects, provide pain relief, and keep your dog mobile and mentally stimulated. A dog with good life quality may even live longer. Paying attention to increasing life quality is a really good idea.
