About Elizabeth Prescott
Dr. Elizabeth Prescott has been practicing in the Hudson Valley of NY for the past ten years. Her undergraduate education is in literature, writing, and education, but once a naughty Jack Russell Terrier entered her life, her path veered into veterinary medicine.
Dr. Prescott attended the University of Minnesota Veterinary School and graduated in the top 10% of her class. She is particularly interested in internal medicine, nutrition, acupuncture, evidence-based natural supplements, and low-stress handling of animals at their veterinary visits.
Dr. Prescott lends her support to animal rescue as often as possible. She feels strongly about the healing power of the human-animal bond and wants to keep your pets as healthy and happy as possible!
Outside of work animal health, she is an avid hiker, lover of the outdoors, reader of books (the kind you can hold!), intermittent meditator and aspiring Buddhist, and pretty good in the kitchen.
My Dog
Charlie is a pit bull shepherd mix and she has the gentlest canine soul around! She was a rescue that we got when she was 5 months old and it was apparent she had minimal socialization during her formative period.
She had never been inside a house and was terrified of the modern world. Noises, floors, doorways, shiny appliances, lamp posts, oh my!
Her refuge was the woods. I could see her shake her apprehension off and really be free once we were outdoors.
We worked so hard together to expose her to the joys of life and with time she conquered so many of her fears.
She has taught me invauable lessons about patience, allowing space, moving slowly through life, and accepting limitations.
She simply is the best even though I still can't pet her on the head!
Now we find refuge in the woods together on our many hikes. I love her more than words can say.
